Kap Bambino

A friend of mine recommended Kap Bambino to me recently. They're a self-described New Wave/ Death Metal duo from Bordeaux. Let me know what you think.

Tame Impala

An accurate quote to describe this band:

"Tame Impala is a psychedelic band from Australia. Please do not align them with MGMT. I will vomit." --PCP Mike

Raccoo-oo-oon

I've been getting into noise/experimental stuff, recently. More than in any other genre, I think the "whole-ablum" concept is so important in noise. This one in particular is unreal, and pretty accessible, I'd say. It hits stores Sunday, but already been snactched a bunch on waffles.

Swirlies and Presidents

This Swirlies track is quite a throwback, but there would be no such thing as No Age without songs like this. Seriously, it's like No Age modeled their whole style after the pedal effects in this song.

Electric President can sound way too pop-y and safe, but here's a great track of theirs I recently heard. Drums remind me Autolux's, which is obviously a huge compliment.

Roy Apron/Boy 8-Bit

I don't know where I can download tracks by this guy, but the ones that he has on his myspace are awesome. Start with 'The Suspense is Killing Me.'
Shitty sound quality, though - it may be just the limitations of myspace audio player, I don't know. He's pretty amateur - he has multiple monikers, just as his tracks don't prove him an identifiable style - but they're are good, if nothing else, for taking notes.

Here is Some Electro That...

...You probably know already because you party with the 40 Year Old Virgin. I'm just kidding, it actually sounds really tight (the party, not the movie). I'm sure he kills it if he's dj-ing the Deadmau5 afterparty. Anyway, these tracks are both being blogged about a ton (esp. the Hot Chip), but thought I'd post anyway in case one of you missed them:

Ossie

I know I tend to exaggerate here and there, but this is one of the best songs I've ever heard. I waited to post it to make sure it held up, and it definitely does. Mish showed me this song one night, and I've been playing it ever since.

Ossie - Holy Land

I'm also seeing Deadmau5 on Friday - cannot wait. We went to Sam Ash to buy new speakers, and our salesman is djing the after-party, so we're going there too.

Crookers

These guys have been doing quite a few remixes all over hype, etc. There are definitely a few worth mentioning though. They are part of this recent Italian electro invasion (Bloody Beatroots) that has been doing a lot of great work. They are producers and have come out with their own material, but I far prefer their basssss heavy remixes.

These two are just basic good electro tracks:
Shinichi Osawa - Rendezvous (Crookers Remix)
AC/DC - Thunderstruck (Crookers Remix)

This booty bass song is really something. I feel like an idiot listening this kind of song, but its really amazing.
Kid Cudi - Day N' Night (Crookers Remix)

Finally, this Armand Van Helden classic is redone. This really could have been a great song with a little more production value. You'll see what I mean. The most blatant case is the drop - no reason for that weird 20 second pause interval before it drops.
Armand Van Helden - I Want Your Soul (Crookers Remix)

Pavement - Silver Jews

I don't know how you guys feel about Pavement/ Silver Jews but I've been listening to them a lot recently. I lump the two of them together because both Stephen Malkmus and Bob Nastanovich contributed regularly for both groups.

Lyrically they were hard for me to get into at first but they both grew on me over time. On a related note, I've gotten into female vocalists again, which is very nice for me! It definitely started with Metric's new single "Help, I'm Still Alive"

Also I'm a big fan of the late night mixes. Keep them Coming!
